認定グラフィックス ハードウェア | Autodesk Knowledge Network にて、AutoCAD の認定および推奨動作環境を満たすグラフィックスハードウェアを見てみます。

認定と推奨の定義については、以下のとおり書かれています。

「認定」ハードウェアは、該当するオートデスク ソフトウェア製品のハードウェアに関する最小動作環境を満たすハードウェアです。動作環境は、当社 Web サイトの該当製品およびバージョンの「動作環境」ページに記載されています。少なくとも 1 つの構成(例: GPU + ドライバ、または CPU + GPU + RAM + HD + BIOS)が、ハードウェアが製品の機能をサポートしていることを検証するテストに合格している必要があります。

「推奨」ハードウェアは、該当するオートデスク製品の推奨動作環境を満たすハードウェアです。少なくとも 1 つの構成が、ハードウェアが製品の機能をサポートしていることを検証するテストに合格している必要があります。

AutoCAD の各バージョンごとに、認定ハードウェアや推奨ハードウェアに GeForce や Quadro があるかどうか見てみます。(2019年3月23日時点)

認定ハードウェアと推奨ハードウェアどちらにもないハードウェアについては、以下のとおり書かれています。

認定ハードウェアにも推奨ハードウェアにも該当しないハードウェアは、製品の高度な機能を適切にサポートしていない可能性があり、使用中に問題が発生する場合があります。

AutoCAD にて何らかの機能が GeForce では無効になりますが Quadro では有効になるなら、その機能の必要性次第では AutoCAD 2015 から AutoCAD 2019 では GeForce は選ばない方が良く、Quadro を選ぶ方が良いです。

テストにかかるコストが大幅に増えるので積極的に GeForce を使ったテストを行っていない可能性がありますので、GeForce だと利用できない機能が出てくるとは断定できません。

AutoCAD ユーザーの意見を見てみると、AutoCAD では GeForce だと無効になる機能があるという話は出てきません。GeForce ではテストを行っておらず AutoCAD の機能が全て正常に動作するとは保証できないので、認定ハードウェアや推奨ハードウェアに GeForce がないと考えられます。

問題:
AutoCADの認定を受けていないビデオカードを使用しているシステムで、安定性の問題が発生する。ソフトウェアが不安定になり、クラッシュしたり、一部の図面ファイルを保存できなくなることがあります。

認定されているグラフィックスハードウェアに交換する方法以外に、最新のドライバがあればアップデートする、これでも解決しなければ AutoCAD でハードウェアアクセラレーションを無効にする解決方法があるそうです。

ただし、AutoCAD でハードウェアアクセラレーションを無効にすると、AutoCAD にてグラフィックスハードウェアの性能を活かすことができなくなります。

このような安定性の問題が発生し、かつドライバの更新でも解決できない可能性が無視できるほど小さいのであれば、Quadro ではなく GeForce を選び、万が一トラブルが発生し解決できなければ Quadro を選ぶことを考えれば良いと思いますが、その可能性はどれくらいなのかは不明です。

AutoCAD のソフトウェアメーカー寄りの視点だと Quadro ならテスト済みなので GeForce よりも Quadro を選ぶ方が良いのでしょうが、AutoCAD ユーザー寄りの視点でも同様な結論になるとは限りません。

GeForce と Quadro どちらも製品によって価格は大きく違いますが、一般的には GeForce は Quadro よりもコストパフォーマンスが高く、AutoCAD にて GeForce を使っても何らかの機能に問題が発生する可能性が小さいなら GeForce を選ぶ方が経済的で良いです。

Recently, I have had to perform some seriously intense 3d Modelling in AutoCAD. The drawing consisted of 300k+ 3d faces which made approximatley 1 million vertices.

At the time I was running a GeForce 960 GTX 2Gb card. The performace made using the drawing impossible to use (not to mention the increadible amount of crashing that I experienced) and I had to resort to spliting up the drawing. I also found the solution of importing the large file into 3DS Max and modelling in that environment (this solution works really well) and then exporting the model back to AutoCAD as a whole mesh.

I then asked the question: "If I had the recommended and 'certified' video card that AutoDesk suggests, will I get better performance and less crashes?"

So I bought the Nvidia Quadro K2200 (Double the price of a GTX 960) which is recommended for heavy use AutoCAD modeling. I refused to spend any more on a video card as it would not be cost effective anyway. This card has more memory but everything on paper is worse than the 960GTX and unfortunatly there is no real nice benchmarks and data to go by to make a comparison. I was hoping the optimised drivers and the ECC VRAM would help out.

This is my conclusion:

Performance wise there was actually a decrease with using AutoCAD using the K2200 compared to the GTX 960. However there was a significant increase in stability resulting in far fewer (actually non in my case) crashes. Also, there was a significant improvement to the performance with 3DS Max. The crashes alone saved some time but the reduced performance didn't help.

So to all AutoCAD users out there: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON QUADRO GPU's (even if AutoCAD and Nvidia says you should). If AutoCAD is performing poorly on your GTX card it is because AutoCAD is poorly optimised and has limitations as a software package and it has nothing to do with your hardware. These limitations have been explored and solved in other AutoDesk software like 3DS Max and Navisworks. So to all Modellers out there: WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A QUADRO ONLY IF YOU WILL USE NAVISWORKS AND/OR MAYA AND/OR 3DS MAX (only if you going to use these packages exclusively). However, note that a high end GTX card will be more than adequate for the use of these three packages.

More detail not necessary as this is targeted at management in the hopes that they don't fall for the "Workstation" or "Professional" marketing strategies that both AutoCAD and Nvidia play with. The cards are not worth it if you are in Engineering modeling.

ドライバについては触れていませんが、いろいろ試行錯誤して解決しようとしていたようなので、最新のドライバを利用していたと思われます。

AutoCAD の利用中に作業負荷が高くなるようなら Geforce よりも安定性が高い Quadro を選ぶ方が良さそうですが、どれくらいの作業負荷から Quadro の必要性が高くなるのかは明確な基準がなく、GeForce と Quadro どちらを選ぶのか判断が難しいところです。

I would get the lower performing quadro. This is a work computer only, yes? Driver and equipment stability is paramount. AutoCAD will run on gaming hardware but the gaming drivers are not certified for use with CAD software.

Similarly, Solidworks runs well on gaming hardware but a number of features are blocked if you don't have certified drivers. Further, graphical glitches are a not-infrequent occurrence that have been eliminated by going from gaming hardware to workstation hardware.

Recognize your audience here is majority gamers, most of whom do not rely on CAD to pay the bills. I do. I would not use a gaming card for billable work. Plus, the difference in performance is utterly irrelevant vs the difference in stability. If you're not rendering photorealistic models (i.e. you're designing stuff not making marketing fluff) then you won't notice the difference in GPU power between a 1080 and a 1050. What you need is stable drivers, so pick the Quadro or Firepro that best matches your budget. If you are going to be rendering more than modeling, then buy a more expensive Quadro. This is literally what these cards are designed for; leave the gaming hardware for the dabblers and the students.

AutoCAD を本格的に仕事で利用するなら、GeForce よりパフォーマンスが低くても GeForce より安定性に優れた Quadro を選ぶ方が良いようです。

SolidWorks では Quadro ではなく GeForce だと無効になる機能があるようですが、AutoCAD ではそのようなことはないようです。

AutoCAD を趣味で利用する、AutoCAD を学ぶために利用するなら、Quadro ではなく GeForce を選択肢に入れると良いようです。

GeForce graphics card are much cheaper than Quadro.

Quadro graphics cards are specially designed for 2D & 3D CAD purpose. These are helpful in realistic rendering and other graphics intense workload.

There are people who first used GeForce and then used Quadro cards for Autocad. According to them, they have not noticed any significant difference in performance using Quadro cards considering its higher cost in case of Autocad.

If you are individual who is only going to use Autocad for small to medium size drawings then I will suggest you to use GeForce graphics card with higher VRAM.

Quadro graphics cards are best suited for workstation pc where heavy 3D & 2D CAD usage is done.

他にも Autodesk 公認の Autodesk ユーザーのコミュニティー等にて意見を見てみると、AutoCAD では GeForce で十分な人もいれば、Quadro を必要とする人もいるようで、どちらの方が良いとは一概には言えません。

個人的にはまずは GeForce から使ってみて、もし何か問題が発生したら Quadro へ交換して使うと良いと思います。
