DP 2.0 is the first major update to the DisplayPort standard since March 2016, and provides up to a 3X increase in data bandwidth performance compared to the previous version of DisplayPort (DP 1.4a), as well as new capabilities to address the future performance requirements of traditional displays.

DisplayPort 2.0とはDisplayPortの新しいバージョンで、先代のDisplayPort 1.4aと比較して帯域幅が最大3倍まで向上しています。

帯域幅

DisplayPort 2.0の帯域幅は1レーンあたり20Gbps、4レーン動作で80Gbpsです。DisplayPort 1.4aの帯域幅は1レーンあたり8.1Gbps、4レーン動作で32.4Gbpsです。この帯域幅では最大3倍とは言えませんが、ペイロードの帯域幅を比較すると最大3倍に近いです。

ペイロードとは、転送するデータから制御等に使用するデータを除いたデータです。ペイロードの帯域幅がDisplayPort 2.0は77.37Gbps、DisplayPort 1.4aは25.92Gbpsです。

DisplayPort 2.0ではコネクターのUSB Type-Cでも使用可能です。USB Type-CではDisplayPort Alternate Modeと呼ぶ機能を使用します。DisplayPort Alternate Modeとは、USB Type-CでDisplayPortのデータ転送を行う機能です。
