製品の名称
CPU のブランドは、製品の名称です。ブランド名から、性能の高さを概ね把握できますが、同じブランドの製品であっても性能は異なりますので、ブランド名だけではなく、どの製品なのかが分かるプロセッサー・ナンバー、またはモデル・ナンバーも確認して選ぶ必要があります。インテル社の CPU ブランド

2015年8月15日時点では、複数のマイクロアーキテクチャ、もしくは開発コードネームに同じブランドの CPU が存在しますが、どのマイクロアーキテクチャ、もしくは開発コードネームの CPU なのかは、プロセッサー・ナンバーで判断できます。
ブランドの立ち位置は Core i7 が高性能、Core i5 と Core i3 が標準的な性能、Pentium と Celeron が低性能です。各ブランドには性能が異なる製品が多数存在しますので、上位ブランドの中で低性能な製品よりも下位ブランドの中で高性能な製品の方が、性能が高い場合があります。
Broadwell の Core M、Bay Trail-D の Pentium と Celeron、Braswell の Pentium と Celeron は、低消費電力と低発熱量に加えて価格が安いという特長がありますが、CPU 全体で見るとブランドの立ち位置は低性能です。

2015年7月16日時点では、Kaveri の A シリーズ、Godavari の A シリーズ搭載デスクトップパソコンが主流です。
Piledriver は、Steamroller よりも古いマイクロアーキテクチャですが、Vishera の FX は性能が高いので、高性能デスクトップパソコンに見られます。
Kaveri の Athlon、Kabini の Athlon、Sempron は、性能は低いですが価格が安いため、低価格デスクトップパソコンに見られます。
